Case study: ensuring fire safety at a new retirement village
Our team at Coating NZ was engaged to create a comprehensive inspection test plan for a significant new retirement village development. This involved a meticulous analysis of the contractor's Quality Assurance processes. A key part of our role was conducting a full inspection of the intumescent coatings, strictly adhering to the FPANZ Code of Practice for the Specification and Application of Intumescent Coatings for the Fire Protection of Structural Steel. We then produced a detailed report on our findings and collaborated closely with the contractor to ensure all remedial work was completed to the highest standards, before presenting the final report and results to the main contractor.
Overcoming challenges with expertise and collaboration
This project presented unique challenges, including a tight timeframe and the need to manage multiple specifications across the development. Furthermore, as it was the contractor's first major project of this scale, providing effective training was paramount. Coating NZ’s unique approach included our ability to effectively train the contractor's team, ensuring they understood and met the stringent requirements. We worked in a timely manner, proactively suggested ways to correct any identified problems, and fostered collaboration with all parties involved to ensure the work was completed correctly and efficiently, leading to a successful and compliant outcome for our client.
